Abuja - The Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency has confirmed the death of 18 people due to a flood that has ravaged 19 local government areas in the state, Punch reports.
Alhaji Yusif Sani, Executive Secretary of SEMA, claimed that the incidents occurred during the rainy season and some victims died as a result of collapsed buildings and sustained injuries.

“The state has already started intervening in order to mitigate the suffering of the victims.
“We started with Jahun Local Government Area where we gave over N2.3m to the victims to buy foodstuffs.
“And this will continue until we reach all the victims in the state,” he said.
