01 September 2016, 20:15

Abuja - An 18-year-old has been arrested after he made specialised soaps and sold them as mobile phones to the public, Daily Post reported.

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos arrested the teenager during a routine patrol in the Ikoduru Motor Park while trying to defraud a man.

The police command found other items such as fake phones, a large amount of money, envelopes and cut to size cartons.

The teen explained to police what he initially does is show the victim the real phone and if they are interested in making a purchase, take out the fake phone that has soap wrapped in it to make it heavy.

Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmus, has warned individuals to be careful and not fall victim to con artists selling items on the highway.

The suspect has been taken to the Lagos Task Force for further prosecution.
