2 men bag 4 months imprisonment for criminal trespass, touting

30 September 2013, 21:11

Abuja - A Gudu Upper Area Court in Abuja on Monday sentenced two men to four months in prison for criminal trespass and touting.

The presiding judge, Alhaji Adamu Wakili, sentenced Festus Isibor of Bassa, Airport Road, Abuja, and Emmanuel Samuel of FAAN quarters, Abuja, after they pleaded guilty to the charges.

The judge however gave the convicts an option to pay a fine of N4000 each.

He warned that the court would not be lenient with them if they appeared again on any criminal charges.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Blessed Akpa, told the court that Ahmed Abdul of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria Security, Abuja, reported the matter at the airport police station on Sept. 27.

He said the convicts trespassed into the Nnadi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, carrying passengers’ bags.

He said that the offence contravened Section 342 of the Penal Code and Section 6 of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria By-law.

The convicts prayed the court for leniency.
