Bayelsa - 20 persons have been apprehended for failing to pay their annual taxes or remit the Value Added Tax by officials of the Federal Internal Revenue Service in Bayelsa State, Punch reports.
Investigation showed that most hotels, restaurants, eateries, supermarkets and other businesses in Yenegoa, had failed to remit money collected from VAT to the appropriate quarters.

Lagos State Tax Director, Patrick Iroro, said the agency’s major challenge had remained the recalcitrant attitude of the business operators.
He said the agency had embarked on different enlightenment programmes, adding that it was even going to the extent of inviting trade groups to their offices to educate them.
