Abuja - At least 250 of 360 members of the House of Representatives have signed a petition for the removal of the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara according to the former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, Punch reports.
Jibrin added that some of the Reps had even demanded to march down to the secretariat of the appropriations committee, but persuaded them not to do so.

The demands made by the Reps were that Dogara should immediately vacate his post and allow a thorough investigation of the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
"Another group has emerged aside the integrity group and these groups have come together and all they are asking Mr. Speaker to do is to reconvene the House immediately and step down, but the body language of Mr. Speaker and a few corrupt people around him is that the issue would have died down when we resume in September and Nigerians would have forgotten," Jibrin said.
News24 Nigeria reported that investigations had revealed that the impeachment process against Dogara had commenced. He has been accused of illegally inserting and allocating projects worth over N20 billion to their constituencies in the 2016 budget by the former Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin.
