3 killed, 2 injured in Kano attack

11 March 2013, 07:23

Kano - Three people have been killed while two others sustained injuries from gunshots by yet to be identified men riding on a tricycle in Kano.

A police source who confirmed the incident told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Sunday that the attack took place at about 1:30 p.m.

"Two people were killed in Hotoro and one other in Dakata area. Two people also sustained injuries during the Dakata shooting.

"A Muslim and his Christian friend were shot in Hotoro today. Our men have already condoned the two areas and investigation is going on.

"We appeal to the residents to remain calm and continue to give relevant information to the police to carry out their duties," the police source said.

The Vice President, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, was in Kano earlier in the day to commiserate with the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, and the people of the state over the attack on the Emir on Jan. 19.

The Military Joint Task Force did not answer telephone calls to comment on the latest attack.
