Lagos - A 31-year-old man, Muhammed
Hadi who allegedly defiled a nine-year-old girl, was on Thursday docked at a
Surulere chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Hadi, who lives at No. 11, Church St., Ijora-Badia, Lagos, however, pleaded not
guilty to the charge of defilement.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Anthonia Osayande told the court that
the accused committed the offense at No. 11, Church St., Ijora-Badia area of
Lagos at about 2.20.p.m on Oct. 3.
She said the accused was living in the same compound with
the nine-year -old girl and that the residence had a general toilet.

According to the prosecutor, the accused cornered the girl
in the bathroom when her parents were not around and defiled her.
Osayande said that the offence violated sections 137 of the
Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
Chief Magistrate Ipaye Nwachukwu granted the accused bail in the sum of
N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.
One of the sureties must be a blood relation of the accused,
while the other must be a civil servant on grade level 14, and they are to
provide evidence of tax payments to the government.
The case was adjourned to Jan. 17 for advice from the State
Director of Public Prosecutions. (DPP).
