Ebonyi - The Police in Ebonyi has confirmed the release of Miss Faith Okorie, a four-year- old victim of kidnapping from Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Okorie, a pupil of the Nursery section of the Federal Government College Staff School, Okposi, was kidnapped about 9 p.m. on Sept. 28.
Mr Sylvester Igbo, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ebonyi, confirmed the release, noting that investigation into the matter was ongoing.
“The girl was found within the premises of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Onueke, in Ezza South LGA on Saturday.
“She said she did not know where the abductors took her and could not identify them.
“However, she said that they treated her nicely without subjecting her to any form of ill-treatment.”
Igbo said he was not aware of any ransom paid before she was released.
Sources close to the family said that the sum of N400,000 was paid for the girl’s release.
Meanwhile, Chief Enekwachi Akpa, the Chairman, Ohaozara Local Government also confirmed the release, saying that the council assisted the family financially to ease their travails.
NAN reports that the girl had been taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical examination.
