47 traffic offenders convicted in Katsina

04 November 2013, 16:49

Katsina - The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Katsina State on Monday said it had arrested and secured the conviction of 47 traffic offenders in Katsina metropolis.

Habu Dauda, the Sector Commander, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina that the offenders were convicted by a mobile court on Saturday at a patrol organised by the FRSC.

“They were convicted for various traffic offences such as seatbelt violation, lack of drivers licence, dangerous driving and other violations,” he said.

He said similar exercise would be conducted by the FRSC in other major towns of the state before the end of the year, to reduce violation of traffic rules and regulations.

The sector commander, therefore, warned motorists in the state to always obey traffic rules and regulations, to ensure safety of lives and property.

Dauda also commended the state government and traditional rulers for their support to the FRSC in its effort to reduce road accidents in the state.

The Emir of Daura, Faruk Umar, had on Friday held a meeting with stakeholders on how to address the rampant traffic violations in the emirate.
