Delta - Delta state has recorded it first case of Lassa fever according to information from the state ministry of health, Vanguard reports.
The first case of the virus was disclosed by the spokesman for the ministry, Chruchill Oyewo, on Monday, January 18, to reporters in Asaba, the state capital.
He said that the index case occurred when a 65-year-old woman from Anambra state was admitted to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Asaba.

The Delta State Rapid Response Team said it had placed 22 persons who had contact with the victim on surveillance with five samples sent for laboratory investigation.
Delta State Governor Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has reportedly provided the necessary logistics to enhance contact tracing and other control measures.
