07 February 2016, 08:44

Lagos - During a raid of a criminal hideout in the Iddo Terminus area, the policemen involved met resistance by the criminals which ended in the injuries of eight policemen and the arrest of 159 hoodlums.

Today reports that a statement by the police and signed by Olubukola Abey, the Chairman of the Taskforce, revealed that on Wednesday, February 3, the police stormed the area with direct orders by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Abey stated that rumours that circulated that some of the criminals were killed during the raid are false and that even though the police were met with resistance when they tried to arrest the hoodlums, the only ones injured were the police - including one who sustained a gunshot wound.

As well as the 159 arrests, the police recovered a range of weapons and cartridges, 125 motorcycles and they destroyed an illegal petrol bunkering barge.
