80-year-old man arrested for raping a minor

Abuja - Police detectives from Ikole Division have arrested an 80-year-old Ekiti man, Olajide Ojo, for raping a minor.

Victor Babayemi, Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Police Command, confirmed the rpe

According to Babayemi, the victim was on street trading when the suspect lured him into his room under the pretence that he wanted to buy pounded yam for the girl.

“The suspect locked the door as soon as the victim entered and forcefully defiled her. The cry of the girl attracted neighbours who promptly alerted the police. Detectives responded promptly and arrested the suspect and took the victim to the hospital.”

Babayemi added that a medical report as well as the blood stained exhibits recovered from the scene confirmed the suspect violated the victim

He said the suspect will be charged to court as soon as the industrial action embarked upon by judiciary staff is called off.
