AEPB apprehends 23 drug suspects, hands them over to NDLEA

Abuja - The Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) has apprehended 23 drug suspects during a routine sanitation enforcement exercise in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

A statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by Mr Joe Ukairo, Head, Information & Outreach Programme Unit of the board, said th suspects had been handed over to the National Drugs and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), FCT Command, for prosecution.

He said the enforcement team of the board discovered the illicit drugs outlets at AYA junction in Asokoro when it stormed the area to clear shanties and monitor compliance with environmental laws

"Officials of the board were able to apprehend 23 suspects who were caught with banned substances like Indian hemp, solution and others substances that could not be easily identified.
"The suspects were immediately handed over to the NDLEA, FCT command, for prosecution,’’ he added.

He promised that the board would collaborate with relevant agencies to check the social vices that constitute a threat to the well-being of the environment and humanity in the FCT.
