Kano - The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has postponed its national executive council meeting (NEC) to hold in Bayero University, Kano State indefinitely, Premium Times reports.
The union said the cancellation of its NEC meeting is in honour of its late former president, Festus Iyayi, who died in car accident allegedly caused by the convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada.
Iyayi was said to be on his way to the NEC meeting.
The body has been on strike since July 1 over the failure of the federal government to implement the 2009 agreement both the union and the government entered.
