Abuja - Abia State Governor Theodore Orji, has welcomed the launch of the new Geographic Information System (ABIAGIS) saying it would enhance the growth f key sectors in the region.
The project is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) between the Abia State Government and the Cyrux Global limited, with investment funds provided by Platinum Mortgage Bank.
The PPP contract was signed on the last September with key aims of enhancing internally generated revenue (IGR), improving service delivery to citizens, accelerated infrastructural development, stimulating economic activities and increasing investor confidence.

"The system will support other critical sectors such as agriculture, environment, transportation, works, housing, mineral resources, water resources, utilities, health and education," said Orji.
He said in order to achieve these aims, the project would deliver some components a computerized Geospatial Data Infrastructure and a commercially-oriented revenue-generating agency under the Abia State Ministry of Lands and Survey (MLS), Computerization, Digitization and Integration of Cadastral survey records and processes.
Orji added that it also included computerization, digitization and integration of land registration and administration records and processes, computerization and modernisation of the operational work flows of MLS's departments and agencies.
