Abuja - The Federal Ministry of Health on Wednesday apologised over its inability to provide adequate body bags for the retrieval of corpses at the scene of last Monday’s bomb blast at Nyanya, Abuja.
No fewer than 75 people were killed or maimed following the bomb explosion.
The Minister of State for Health, Dr Khaliru Alhassan, offered the apology on behalf of the ministry while fielding questions from State House correspondents in Abuja.
He explained that the officials ran out of the body bags while retrieving bodies and putting out fire at the scene.
Alhassan said that government had commenced the release of corpses of those who died in the explosion to their relations.
He said that out of the 216 persons affected by the blast, 75 died while 141 were being treated at various hospitals and medical centres across the Federal Capital Territory.
