Abuja land fraud trio granted bail

03 March 2015, 21:31

Lagos - Three men accused of involvement in a N7 million land scam have secured bail at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.

Justice Abubakar Mahmud Talba granted bail to Daniels Nat who is standing trial alongside Dennis Edimoh and Peter Oko Amadi on a four-count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust, forgery and conspiracy.

EFCC is prosecuting the trio for alleged forgery of a Federal Government Certificate of Occupancy to a plot in Gwarimpa District, Abuja, which was duly allotted to one Mr Adekoya Daniel Oladepo.

The trio allegedly used the forged certificate as collateral to solicit investment from Ambifel Services Limited, whom they swindled to the tune of N7 million having promised 30 percent return on investment after a maturity period of 60 days.

Since the release of the fund, they went underground, it is alleged. Daniel, Edimoh and Amadi were arraigned last month and pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Justice Talba admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.

The case has been adjourned to March 30, 2015 for continuation of trial.
