Agency to provide HIV drugs in 14 general hospitals

27 October 2013, 15:39

Abuja - The Jigawa State Agency for the Control of AIDS (JISACA) on Saturday said that it had concluded plans to provide HIV drugs in 14 general hospitals in the state.

The agency said this in Dutse via a statement signed by Malam Mati Ali, the public relations officer of the state’s ministry of health.

The statement said that the secretary of JISACA, Bashir Ahmed, gave the assurance when members of the Society for Family Health (SFH) visited the agency on Friday.

It said that Ahmed explained that the drugs would be provided, in collaboration the SFH, in 14 general hospitals across the state, in addition to the Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital, Dutse.

The statement said that Malam Yahaya Waziri, the leader of the visiting SFH members, said that they were in Jigawa to conduct an awareness campaign on HIV testing and referral of identified victims.

It said that Waziri explained that the campaign was also aimed at assisting persons living with HIV/AIDS to access counselling and treatment services.
