Maiduguri - The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Ahmadu Mohammed, on Wednesday, escaped death as angry soldiers opened fire on his official vehicle, Premium Times reports.
The soldiers were said to have gone on an operation in Kala Balge council area of the state but they were instructed to withdraw from the assignment and return to Maiduguri immediately in the night.
They, however, ran into a Boko Haram ambush and 12 of them got killed while some others were injured.
The soldiers were reportedly livid by the loss of their colleagues and decided to vent their anger on the GOC, who they believed deliberately allowed them drive at night to be ambushed by the Boko Haram.
