Abuja - A community in Bayelsa State is overwhelmed by gas leaks from one of the fields run by fuel firm, Agip.
The Ikarama community leaders raised concern at the continuing spills in the fields near Taylor Creek well in the Yenagoa Local Government Area.
Spokesman of Ikarama Development Committee, Washington Odoyibo, said the community, which noticed the development on Monday, regretted that the oil firm was yet to respond to concerns regarding the leakage.
He said that the sound from the spill site could be heard.
“That confirms it is a really serious spill," Odoyibo said.
Members of the community are avoiding the leakage site and are concerned by possibilities of fire and dangers of inhaling the toxic gas.
Agip could not be reached for comment.
