Akwa-Ibom - After public outcry for imposing a controversial pension plan on his state, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom state has agreed to expunge questionable provisions from the law, Premium Times reports.
Akpabio has been criticised for manipulating the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly to pass the law, which would enable him and his successors with their deputies to be entitled to over N200 million annually after leaving office.
Akapabio said it is regrettable the public outcry against the pension law as it was promulgated to cater for the medical expenses and treatment of governors and their deputies of the state after completing their terms.
