Akwa-Ibom - Akwa Ibom State Government welcomed the appointment of a local, Dan Abia, as the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The Governor, Godswill Akpabio, also expressed the appreciation on behalf of the government and the state for the selection of indigenes of the state into various key positions of the commission.
President Goodluck Jonathan recently Abia was appointed Abia to the position.
He commended the President for also elevating Inyang Okoro from Ikono Local Government Area of the state to Justice of the supreme court of Nigeria.
“With such an elevation, Akwa Ibom has been integrated into the community of faith,” said Akpabio.
Following the appointment, the Governor called for continued support and loyalty to President Goodluck Jonathan for finding Akwa Ibom people fit to occupy such key positions.
The State Commissioner for Finance, Bassey Albert Akpan, said Jonathan had demonstrated that loyalty was worth rewarding in governance.
He assured the President that the state would continue supporting his aspirations.
Abia meanwhile welcomed his appointment and paid tribute to Akpabio for the confidence reposed on him to hold such a position.
He promised not to disappoint the people of the state, the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.
