Abuja – The Akwa Ibom State Government has
approved the establishment of sports academies to empower youth in the region.

Umanah, confirmed the plans after the weekly meeting of the State Executive
He said the establishment of the academies was part of
the far decisions taken in line with the empowerment drive of the Governor Udom
The decision to establish the academies, one each in the
ten Federal Constituencies of the state, was taken with a view to harnessing
talents from schools and communities.

It thus is envisaged to preparing them for future sports
engagements and employment opportunities.
Umanah said the State Executive Council also approved the
empowerment training programme for some 329 youths in the state.
He said the empowerment training in photography,
videography and film production would be held for youths to be drawn from all
the wards in the state.
