Uyo - The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said on Wednesday that it had arrested a politician and two other suspects in connection with alleged oil theft in Akwa Ibom.
The Commandant of the corps in the state, Pedro Ideba, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom.
Ideba, who declined to disclose the names of the suspects, said the culprits used sophisticated method in committing the act.
He said that the suspects were arrested last year following a tip-off, adding that they were caught while trying to adulterate petroleum products.
Ideba said items recovered from the suspects included; a Mercedes Benz car, pumping machine and two tankers.
He said that suspects were arrested on Ibiakpan Junction in Ikot Ekpene-Itu road.
