04 February 2013, 07:31

Lafia - As part of efforts to enhance security, the Nasarawa State Government, on Sunday donated 16 Hilux Toyata vans to the military to facilitate peace keeping services in the state.

Presenting the vehicles to the army at Government House, Lafia, Gov. Umaru Al-Makura, urged the military to handle their peace keeping services in the state professionally.

The governor also called on leaders of various communities in the state to prevail on youths to conduct themselves in a civil and responsible manner.

He  warned communities to respect the laws of the land, saying that any community that violated the laws would regret the consequence of their actions.

Appreciating the effort of the military in restoring normalcy in the crisis-torn areas, Al-Makura said the State Government was grateful with the professional way the army handled the situation.

He assured that the government would not relent in its efforts to assist security operatives in bringing lasting solution to problems in the state.

"The problem the state is facing today is a challenge that requires deliberate  efforts to live in peace with one another."

The leader of the military operation in the state, Capt. Salisu Yusuf, thanked the governor for the gesture, saying that the vans would facilitate the military's operations.

He assured the governor of their commitment to ensuring lasting peace in the state.
