Abuja - Eleven suspected oil thieves have appeared at the Federal High Court Warri in Delta State following their arrest about a year ago.

Ephraim Akpan, Agadagba Ochuko, Clement Tommy, Oyayefa Abonne, Bousou Kereotu, Dereye Harry, Lucky Abonne, Dapo Obdare, Friday Ibude, Ebi Ekokeme and Vincent Elayegha appeared on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and illegal dealing in petroleum product.
Officers arrested the suspects and confiscated their vessel, MT Petroitti, in May last year following a tip off around Ofoma oil terminal in Delta State.
They were allegedly found in possession of about 272 tonnes of substance suspected to be crude oil and handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for further investigation and prosecution.
They pleaded not guilty to the charge. The accused have secured bail to the tune of N1 million each and two sureties in like sum.
The matter has been adjourned to May 5 for trial.
