Abuja - Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has commended the State Joint Security Taskforce following the arrest of some gunmen in the state capital.
The five culprits have ben arrested with three AK-47 rifles, ammunition and assorted indian hemp at ‘Barracks’ in Rumueme area of Port Harcourt.
Amaechi's Chief Press Secretary, David Iyofor, said the governor said information available indicated that those arrested were suspected to be hired thugs.

It is feared the arms and ammunition were to be used to unleash violence on voters and citizens before or during the gubernatorial elections on Saturday.
The governor urged voters and the people of Rivers State to remain calm and peaceful as the Joint Security Taskforce in the State has assured that they are poise to ensure a peaceful, violence free elections and the safety of lives and property before, during and after the elections.
He called on Rivers voters to come out in numbers on Saturday to vote as their safety and security was assured.
