Calabar - An armed gang of six robbers raided several shops
on the eve of the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections in Cross River
State, Punch reported.
The gang has caused a panic in the state because several
people were injured during the stampede while running for safety. It is alleged
that about 15 people were injured and have been since taken to hospital.

According to reports, the robbers took advantage of security
officials and police being busy getting ready for the elections. The robbers
stormed supermarkets, filling stations and pharmacies to name a few.
They had been travelling in a stolen vehicle and shot
sporadically, injuring 15 people.
