Abuja - The new Army Headquarters Garrison Commander, Brig-Gen, Barry Ndiomu, has taken over the affairs of the garrison.
The new commander took over from Maj-Gen. Tammy Dibi, who has been redeployed to Lagos as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army.
The handing and taking over exercise took place at the commander's office in Mogadishu Cantonment.
Before his appointment, Ndiomu was the Director of Standards and Combat Readiness at the Army Headquarters.
"He also served in several capacities in army formations as commander, staff officer and Instructor within and outside Nigeria," it stated.
Ndiomu served as Defence Attache at the Nigerian Embassy in the Republic of Chad.
While handing over to Ndiomu, the outgoing commander, described him as an embodiment of military tradition, as well as an intelligent, dedicated and hardworking officer.
Dibi also described him as an officer who does not compromise on high quality performance.
He enjoined the officers and soldiers to give maximum support to the new commander to ensure effective performance, and thanked them for their support and commitment to duty.
He urged them to ensure discipline and good ethical behaviour to achieve the transformation agenda of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
