Army kills Boko Haram commander, 30 others

Abuja - The troops of the Nigerian Army have found a large amount of Euro on a terrorist commander who was killed during an encounter with the insurgents at Mafa, near Nigeria’s border with Cameroun, Punch reports.

The Director, Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, said in a statement on Monday that the Boko Haram commander was killed when the Special Forces repelled an attack on Mafa on Saturday.

Olukolade said that the terrorist, who was of the highest Amir cadre of the Boko Haram, was among 30 terrorists killed in the Mafa battle.

The Defence spokesman said that several others fled the scene of the battle with bullet wounds.

He said that the soldiers also captured some arms and ammunition, tubes of rocket-propelled grenades, a buffalo vehicle and other equipment from the insurgents.

According to him, the military only lost damaged equipment in the operation.
