Lagos - Ex-militant and founder of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, has been freed by the government of Benin Republic, Saharareporters reports.
Dokunbo was arrested on Tuesday at about 1pm around the Lubeleyi roundabout by the police authorities in Benin Republic and taken to an undisclosed destination.
It was gathered that President Goodluck Jonathan facilitated his release after he intervened on his behalf with the Beninoise President Yayi Boni.
The ex-militant who had said his arrest would lead to Nigeria's disintegration, was said to have been flown to Abuja immediately after his release.
