Assembly recommends sack of 2 board chairmen

22 November 2012, 09:09

Ekiti  - The Ekiti State House of Assembly on Wednesday recommended the immediate removal of the chairmen and members of two commissions in the state.

The organisations are the House of Assembly Service Commission and the Local Government Service Commission.

House Majority Leader, Mr Churchill Adedipe, who moved the motion for the removal at the plenary session of the house in Ado-Ekiti, hinged the action on some noticeable lapses in the administration of the commissions by the members.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the lawmakers expressed support for the motion.

Boluwade Bolics, representing Emure Constituency, however, advised that the constituencies of the dropped members should be considered when reconstituting the board.

Other members including Mr Clement Sunday, Ogundele Folorunso and the Speaker of the House, Mr Adewale Omirin, stressed that merit should always be the watchword in the appointment of people to positions.
