Abuja - The former General Officer Commanding the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, Maj.Gen. Abubakar Mohammed attacked by soldiers in Maiduguri has been retired, Punch reports.
Mohammed was retired after he was recalled to the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army without posting for months after the soldiers made an attempt on his life on May 14, 2014.
A court martial sentenced the 12 soldiers to death by firing squad for mutiny and attempted murder of their commanding officer.

The soldiers accused their commanders of conspiring to kill fellow troopers after a convoy was ambushed on 13 May on a road frequently attacked by the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram.
