Auditors approve Katsina government funds spending

29 December 2014, 07:27Augustine Osayande

Abuja - Auditors have expressed satisfaction with the way Katsina State spent funds meant for service provision.

State Auditor General, Alhaji Abdu Umar Kofar Sauri, said auditors in the state strictly monitored spending by State and Local Government Councils to eliminate possible diversion of public funds into personal use.
Sauri explained that his office had monitored all projects executed within the current year and was satisfied they were executed within the approved budget of the year.

Sauri said auditors paid constant visits to ministries, parastatals and Local Government to monitor movement of files within offices.

“We monitor spending by both State and Local Government Council to ensure that no single Kobo was diverted into private pockets. We are given free hand to operate. We carry out our responsibilities without any interference from State Government or any individuals,” he said.
He pointed out that because of the freedom, auditors in the state were able to carry out their responsibilities successfully.
