Auto accident claims 2 in Osun

Osun - Two persons were burnt beyond recognition while six others were seriously injured in an auto accident on the Osogbo- Ikirun road on Monday.

Mr  Imoh Etuk, the Osun Sector Commander of the FRSC, confirmed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo on Monday.

Etuk said that the accident, which happened at 2.50 pm on Monday, involved a commuter bus with registration number XX 204 LSD.

He said that the bus,which was  on high speed,  burst  into flames.

``A total of eight persons were in the bus, but two male adults  were burnt beyond recognition,’’ he said.

He  said the  other six persons  made up of   three male children and  three adults were injured.

``The injured,  who were  with severe  burns,  have been rushed to Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo,  for treatment. ‘’  Etuk said.

He attributed the accident to mechanical fault but added that the accident could have been averted  if the driver had ``observed traffic rules and regulations to the letter. ``

Etuk called on road users,  especially commercial drivers, to always ensure that their vehicles were road worthy before embarking on a journey.
