Bauchi - The Bauchi State Government has promised to ensure the safety of all National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in the state.
In a statement in Bauchi on Wednesday, Gov. Isa Yuguda denied that there was an explosion at the NYSC Orientation camp in Wailo, Bauchi.
The statement, signed by Mr Ishola Michael, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, described the rumour of an explosion at the camp as baseless, unfounded and aimed at disrupting the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
“The rumour is the handiwork of a few people who are enemies of peace and who want to cause unnecessary panic among the people, particularly the corps members, who are visitors to the state.
“As a government, we are committed to the protection of lives and property of every law abiding citizen of the state.
“Adequate security measures have been put in place and we are working hand in hand with all security agencies in the state.
“We are therefore assuring all those who have children and wards at the Wailo NYSC Orientation Camp, that the situation there is calm as the Corps members are going about their normal camp activities without any hindrance,” the governor said.
Similarly, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mohammed Ladan, refuted the rumour and described it as the handiwork of mischief makers.
