Bauchi explosion injures nine

Bauchi - The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, Mohammad Ladan, has confirmed that nine persons sustained injuries in an explosion that rocked the state's capital late on Sunday.

Ladan said in Bauchi on Monday, said that no life was lost in the blast.

The explosion which occurred at the popular Bayan Gari area of Bauchi city, injured seven males, one female and a child.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the explosion which went off  at about at 9: 05 p.m.

A resident of the area, who pleaded anonymity said the explosion occurred inside an uncompleted that had served as a hideout for hoodlums.

The resident said that men of the Red Cross and the Police were the first to arrive at the scene of the incident.

Victims of the blast had since been taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi for medical attention.

Bauchi has been under tight security since June 17 when some men were caught with explosive devices in the city.
