Bauchi -The Bauchi State Government says 1,589 of the 3655 intending pilgrims from the state, have so far been transported to Saudi Arabia through the Gombe Airport.
The Special Adviser to Gov. Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State, Sanusi Isa, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Wednesday.
He said that the fourth batch of 535 pilgrims were already at the Gombe Airport for the trip.
Isa said the State Government had provided some money and items such as praying mats, Quran and other incentives to the pilgrims to assist them to perform the pilgrimage successfully.
The special adviser advised the intending pilgrims to conduct themselves well while in the Holy Land and to obey the laws of Saudi Arabia and to obey the leaders of the country.
He also urged them to pray for the peace, unity and progress of Bauchi State and Nigeria as a whole during the pilgrimage.
Isa stated that government ensured that each of the female pilgrims had a male partner (Muharam).
A NAN Correspondent covering the operation at the airport reports that the fourth batch of Bauchi State intending pilgrims were seen being served with food and drinks.
Some of the pilgrims, who spoke to NAN, commended the Amirul Hajj team, officials of the state's Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and other stakeholders for the orderly arrangement of this year’s flights.
