Makurdi - The Benue government says it has signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of 300 housing units to meet accommodation challenges of its citizens in the state.
The Commissioner for Housing, Alexander Akpera, stated this at a press briefing on Wednesday in Makurdi.
Akpera said that government had completed the survey of potential buyers before embarking on the project.
He said Gov. Gabriel Suswam had approved the appointment of a real estate consultant, ‘Messrs Sears Investment Limited’, to document all property owned by the state across the country.
According to the commissioner, the consultant also has the mandate to generate revenue by collecting rents on such property, adding that government has already generated N6.95 million from such charges.
