Abeokuta - The outbreak of Avian Influenza otherwise known as H5N1 and also known as bird flu has been confirmed in Ogun State, Vanguard reports.
The Ogun State commissioner for Agriculture, Ronke Sokefun confirmed the outbreak to reporters in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital on Monday.
She said samples from Sango, Sagamu, Ifo live birds and another poultry farm on Obalende-Ikangba Road in Odogbolu Local Government area of the state had tested positive to the highly pathogenic bird flu.

Ogun State was earlier listed by the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, among the states affected by the bird flu virus.
Other affected states include Kano, Lagos, Delta, Rivers, Edo and Plateau states.
To date, 21 commercial farms, nine live bird markets and private zoos have been affected in the seven states.
