Lagos - A Port Harcourt suspect has owned up to
defrauding a man of more than N1 million after he posting a fake
auction advertorial online claiming he had vehicles impounded by the
Nigeria Customs Service for sale.
Waheed Adeniyi, alias Ibrahim Waziri, has been arraigned
before Justice Quadri of the Federal High Court on a one-count charge of
It is alleged Adeniji, with intent to defraud did obtain the
sum of N1, 01 million from one Emmanuel Iheanyi Nwogu for the purchase
of three cars placed on auction, under the pretence that he was

Accokrding to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,
the offence was contrary to section 1 (1a) and (2) of the Advance Fee
Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act 2006, which is punishable
under Section 1(3) of the same Act.
The prosecution counsel, Ramiah Ikhanade, asked for a date
to review the fact of the case in view of the plea of the accused.
Justice Quadri ordered that the accused person be remanded
in prison custody and adjourned the matter to May 4.
