Boko Haram: Council Chairman urges pilgrims to pray for Nigeria

24 August 2015, 17:14

Abuja -  Umar Danhabi, the Chairman of Binji Local Government Area in Sokoto State, has advised intending Muslim pilgrims to seek God’s intervention in the nation’s quest to crush the Boko Haram insurgents.

Danhabi gave the advice in Sokoto on Monday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said the nation was in dire need of prayers to overcome the present insecurity in some parts of the country.

He expressed optimism that fervent prayers by the pilgrims and other Nigerians would expose those behind the senseless killings.

The chairman also advised the pilgrims against carrying prohibited items to the holy land, and also urged them to respect the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

"Already, the council has taken measures to address the welfare and other needs of the pilgrims while in the holy land," he said.

Danhabi said clinics would be set up in pilgrims’ residences as well as mobile clinics at Muna and Arafat, so as to provide medical care for the pilgrims.
