Borno - Boko Haram launched a fresh attack on Bama, one of the largest local governments in Borno state, in an attempt to take over the town, Punch reports.
The insurgents arrived the town and engaged security forces in a shootout, but the forces fiercely resisted their invasion.
A gun battle is currently ongoing between the sect members and the Nigerian troops who are currently stationed at the entrance of the local government.
It was gathered the residents have fled the town to the state capital, Maiduguri, to avoid being caught up in the crossfire.
