Borno – It has been reported that the leader of Boko Haram, Sheikh Abubakar Shekau, has been shot and deposed by members of his own sect, AllAfrica reports.
The group has since selected a new leader, Abu Zamira Mohammed and has been negotiating with the federal government. The spiritual leader of Boko Haram, Imam Liman Ibrahim has said the change in leadership is a result of wanting to have peace negotiations with the federal government.
Boko Haram has said that their ceasefire declaration has been successful and noted that there have no suicide bombings since the declaration was made.
