Borno recruits 1 000 teachers

Borno - The Borno State Government said on Tuesday that it had recruited 1 000 teachers to uplift the standard of education in the state.

The Commissioner of Education, Inuwa Kubo, said this while briefing newsmen on the activities of his ministry in Maiduguri.

Kubo, also said that government had raised the monthly allocation for feeding of students in secondary schools from N20 million to N100 million.  

``Gov. Kashim Shettima has also approved an upward review of the funds being spent on students' feeding from N20m to N100m monthly.''
 
Kubo said that government had spent about N9.4 billion on the execution of projects in the education sector this year.
 
He explained that the projects included renovation of all secondary schools in the state.

``We also constructed new classrooms and procured numerous instructional materials to boost teaching and learning in schools.
