16 May 2014, 11:07Augustine Osayande

Abuja - The Director of Demoris Environmental Services Limited, Madeline Eyimofe, alongside her company, has been arraigned at the Rivers State High Court on charges of issuing a dud cheque.

According to a press statement by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), she allegedly issued an Oceanic Bank cheque for the sum N6, 5 million to one Sylvester Igwegbe.

The cheque was allegedly returned for lack of sufficient fund when it was presented for payment.

According to EFCC, the offence was allegedly committed in March 2011 at the Port Harcourt Judicial Division of the High Court.

This contravened the Dishonoured Cheques (Offences) Act of the Revised Edition (Laws of the Federation) 2007.

Eyimofe has been granted bail to the sum of N10 million with two sureties in like sum.

The matter was adjourned to June 26 for trial.
