Kaduna - The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna
State, Mr Olufemi Adenaike, has confirmed that 22 persons were killed
following gunmen attack on Dogon-Dawa Village, near Birnin Gwari, Kaduna
Adenaike, told newsmen in Kaduna that the gunmen suspected to be
armed bandits attacked the persons who were returning from the mosque
after early morning prayers.
"Investigations revealed that on Oct.13, at about 1200 hours some
members of the vigilante group from Dogon-Dawa village went to Kuyello
"At Kuyello, a distance of 35km they arrested four persons suspected
to be members of notorious gang terrorising their area and took them
down to Dogon-Dawa village for questioning.
"Following the arrest, some unidentified armed gang in Kuyello
village mobilised in their large numbers and stormed the village at
early hours of Sunday in a bid to rescue the four persons arrested.
"The gang descended on innocent members of the village, killing a
total of 22 persons and they rescued two out of the four members of the
gang," Adenaike said.
He said the command had launched a manhunt for the suspected armed bandits, while investigation had commenced.
