Calabar – Evelyn Atemkeng, 42, from Cameroon, was arrested in Calabar with a three-day-old baby. It has been alleged that she bought the baby from a clinic for N1.2 million, AllAfrica reports.
It has been reported that Atemkeng and her mother, Anastasia Fambong, bought the baby from a matron in Delta State for N1.2 million.
The Cross River State Immigration Command caught the woman boarding a ship to Cameroon, and after being interrogated she confessed to the baby.
Atemkeng later denied this to the media, saying that she gave birth to the baby in a Nigerian hospital and the N1.2 billion was paid to the matron for the delivery of the baby and post-natal herbs.
