Car theft increases in Kano

Kano  -  As the Sallah celebration approaches, the rate of car theft in Kano city has increased, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Worried by this development, car owners have urged security agencies to tighten security around departmental stores and open markets to check-mate the perpetrators of this crime .

A victim, Malam Ibrahim Salim who rides a saloon car said that he went to a department store in Kano city to buy shoes and his car got stolen.

Salim said the incident was a like a dream, noting that there were uniformed guards at the store's  parking lot.

Another victim, Ayuba Bako, said his car was stolen at Kwari textile market in the city last week while he was shopping.

Similarly, a  female Hausa film star was reported to have lost a Honda car which was snatched from her at a store after she had finished shopping.

Many victims rarely report to the Police because their belief that such cars may never be recovered.
