Abuja - The Nigeria Air Force on Tuesday announced the death of Santana Badeh, mother of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Alex Badeh.
Group Capt. Dele Alonge, the Deputy Director of Air Force Public Relations and Information, announced this in a statement in Abuja.
It stated that Santana, the matriarch of the Badeh family, died at the early hours of Tuesday at the age of 86.
It said she died in Vimtim, Mubi North Local Government Area of Adamawa, after a brief illness.
The statement said she was survived by children, grand children and great-grand children, including the CAS.
It stated that the deceased would be missed for “her selfless service to the community and assistance to the less privileged ones in the society”.
“She was also an active elder in the church and she dedicated her life to the service of God and humanity throughout her life time," the statement said.
The Minister of State for Defence, Olusola Obada, has condoled with the family during a visit in Abuja.
The statement said she prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Badeh.
The statement also stated that the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Ibrahim, and other top military officers, paid their condolences to the Air Chief.
It said other callers included the Head of Service of the Federation, Aji Goni, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Ismail Aliyu,
Permanent secretaries from various ministries and directors from the Ministry of Defence also paid condolence visits to the family.
The statement said the remains of Santana would be laid to rest on Wednesday at her home town, Vimtim near Mubi in Adamawa by 2.00 p.m.
